A Dazzling Summer Soiree for High School Graduates
It’s so hot out, what do you do? Throw a refreshing party with open breezy panels, icy fruit infused drinks, and tasty treats. That’s exactly what we did for the graduation of twin siblings who had many family and friends that couldn’t all fit into the living room of the host family home. Taking advantage of the sprawling backyard, we created a glamorous summer tent soiree with tons of fun activities to keep guests entertained.
Even in the middle of the summer, you can have an outdoor party for large gatherings. We made sure to strategically set up the decorative backdrop to block the sun to help keep attendees even cooler. An entire area of the tent was dedicated to chilled drinks. Fun and festive fruit shaped cups matched the infused fruit drinks guests could taste. What’s great is at sunset, the entire event space transformed into a glittering evening bash.
Here are the key highlights of this Summer Noon to Sunset Soiree:
Delightful Treat Table
The main display was the treat table, filled with delicious cake pops, cupcakes, candy bars, rock candies, and so much more. We made sure to make the entire table pop with inviting and eye-catching props. Dangling guest bags were hung close-by so guests didn’t forget to take one when parting.
Bubbly Backdrop
The backdrop was themed for the new graduates, with 2 hats and gold embossed letters on dark green shrubbery. We made sure we had weatherproof balloons for our outdoor event. The heat was near 95 to 98 degrees!
Food Displays
The food was displayed across two different areas areas. One space was dedicated to the favorite finger foods of Caribbean delicacies. These tables had tiered display racks with delicious savory snacks like pine tarts, cheese straws, pholourie, and more.
Different dishes were spread on heating plates on one table. This included freshly BBQ’d chicken kabobs, vegetarian kabobs, and shrimp kabobs. Potato salad, carrot rice, yellow rice, steamed vegetables, and other sides were available. Dhaal pouri rhoti with curry chicken as well as salmon, beef, and chicken burgers were also dishes that disappeared quickly.
Tiered Cupcake Displays
Cylinder shaped tables of different heights had beautiful displays of gourmet cupcakes. They were a great additional flare that paired well with the backdrop to give it more atmosphere. The sun was beaming down and melted some of the icing, but as the sun set that no longer was a problem.
Breezy Tent
The tent was set up to have an open air theme, allowing the breeze to gently tug at the tapestries hanging from every side. Additionally, string lights were tied from end to end so that at night the tent would have a soft glow. The tent was simple and straightforward, leaving the tables to bring the spice with food, centerpieces, and other highlights.
Adaptive Space
Our event space was created in such a way that it could continue from day to night with ease. Tiki torches were fired up, string lights lit, and a big movie screen playing in the background for guests to continue enjoying the party into the late evening. There was space for people who wanted to lounge, eat, play games, or watch movies.
Center Pieces
Elegant glass lamps were made more festive with neon lit lights inside. Add confetti and funny themed selfie glasses, and every table was both beautiful and interactive. Each table was paired with wooden Chiavari bamboo chairs that leaned into Hawaiian and tropical themes.
Bigger Than Life Activities
What made the soiree even more entertaining was the giant blow up movie screen that family and friends could watch movies on. Additionally, a giant Jenga set, neon glowing cornhole boards, and a giant checkers set made the party even more fun.
All-in-all, it was a very casual event that was highly memorable. Many of the guests stayed late into the night until it was time to go to bed. Tear down was easy because the party was so well organized.
