- Never allow children to ignore fireworks even if they’re sparklers, the latter of which make up 25% of firework-related emergency room injuries.
- Never relight a firework if it does not go off. Rather, put them in water and throw it away.
- Avoid loose clothing while lighting or playing around fireworks.
- Always keep a bucket of water available in case a fire occurs or a firework is malfunctioning.
- Never make your own fireworks.
- Don’t try to disassemble or recreate fireworks in any way.
- Point fireworks and sparklers day from you when they’re lit.
- Light fireworks fireworks on a fire resistant or dry on the ground, away from dry leaves, trash, and more.
- Soak fireworks in water before throwing them away.
- It is better to light one firework at a time, rather than multiple.
- If you can, a portable fire extinguisher is good to have on hand. A water hose works as well.
- Always follow the directions on the fireworks and don’t use them for what they’re not intended for.
